Distribution overview: The natural growth range of Live oak in North America includes the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia. The tree is often found in pure stands, and prefers sandy soils including coastal dunes and ridges near marshes. It grow from sea level up to an altitude of 300 feet (91 m) in most places within its range, and up to 2000 feet (610 m) in Texas.
